Elementary - Middle School
Science of Reading
Hello, my name is Jess Krook. I am a mom of 3 children (1 boy and 2 girls) and a teacup Yorkie named Lulu.
I have 22 years of experience teaching children in grades Kindergarten - 5th grade. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master’s Degree as a Reading Specialist in the state of Massachusetts. When I first started my teaching career I realized very quickly that teaching my students how to read gave me the greatest joy. This is more than just a job to me, this is my passion!
I enjoy assessing my students to find out their strengths and weaknesses and tailoring my lessons accordingly. The best part of my job is when that lightbulb goes off in their head and they feel successful!
I am currently a Reading Specialist servicing students in grades Kindergarten - 5th grade. I am always looking to grow and learn as an educator and enjoy taking courses based on current reading research.. I am trained in Orton Gillingham, Fundations, SPIRE, the Science of Reading, Heggerty, and Keys to Literacy.
In my spare time you can catch me at the football field or baseball field watching my son or at the dance studio where my daughters dance competitively.
