Hello! My name is Megan O’Connor and I am so excited to be working with My Happy Teacher. Personally, I have been married for 27 glorious years to my husband Gary and have two fantastic children who are now parents themselves. I love spending time with my grandbabies and sharing my love of reading with them! I also enjoy puzzles, gardening, hiking, and playing with my pup Brody.

Professionally, I have a Bachelor of Science degree from The University of South Florida specializing in Elementary Education K-6. I have taught a variety of grades with the most recent being Kindergarten for 8 years. I am now retired and live in the mountains of North Carolina. I am Wilson Level 1 certified and have been trained in other reading programs as well.

My goal is to have a creative environment in which all students can learn and grow. Every day is a new day full of possibilities. Gifting students with tools and strategies to help them become confident proficient readers and writers is the most rewarding honor and blessing I could ask for as a teacher/tutor. I look forward to working together with you as partners in your child’s growth and development!
