What is needed for a tutoring session?

Equipment needed:
-
Up-to-date computer, Apple, PC, or Tablets/Ipad (phones can make it a little difficult because of size but we can make anything work in a pinch) with built-in camera and microphone
-
High Speed Internet, 1.5 Mbps or higher upload and download speed would be great! You can check your computer's speed at:
-
Headphones are helpful for your child to concentrate (not necessary though)
-
A Zoom account (how to access Zoom)
Not needed but would be nice eventually:
-
A graphing tablet will make it easier when we are working on math problems on the screen. Using a mouse can be time consuming.
-
(example: XP-Pen G430S OSU Tablet Ultrathin Graphic Tablet 4 x 3 inch Digital Tablet Drawing Pen Tablet for OSU is only $19.95)
-
A document camera (HUE HD Pro USB Document Camera for Windows, macOS and Chrome OS is $79.95). This will allow your child to be able to share exactly what paper or book they need help on.
Suggestions for during the tutoring session:
-
Create a quiet, distraction-free area for the online tutoring sessions.
-
Close all other programs
-
Try to make sure that others in the home are not downloading or uploading during sessions—this includes gaming, movies, downloading documents, etc. This can affect connection quality.
Parent involvement
-
Please, contact me whenever you have concerns or questions arise. We are a team working for the best interest of your child.

In the beginning, it would be great if you are around in case there are any technology issues (but usually the kids are the ones that fix it for us LOL!!)
-
Not often but you may have to be in the same room if your child is having problems focusing.
