My Story
I am a reading interventionist and Orton-Gillingham practitioner who believes that every
student, regardless of their learning profile, can achieve literacy success through
explicit, systematic, and multisensory instruction tailored to each learner’s unique
needs.
With a master’s degree from The Ohio State University, a reading endorsement from
Walsh University and an Associate Training Certification from the Orton-Gillingham
Academy, I have a proven track record of supporting students with dyslexia, dyspraxia,
dysgraphia, ADHD, downs syndrome, deficits in executive functioning, spatial planning,
working memory, rapid naming speed, and other specific learning disabilities and
cognitive challenges. I am also a published children’s writer, which allows me to bring a
creative and engaging lens to the science of reading and writing.
As a trauma-competent educator, I combine a data-driven approach with a
compassionate, relationship-centered teaching philosophy. Whether I’m helping the
youngest reader master phonemic awareness or guiding college students through
complex morpheme-level analysis of the language, I am careful to create a respectful,
emotionally sound and motivating environment for each individual by building
connections and a trusting relationship with my students. This care ensures our online
lessons are a safe space for growth where strengths and interests are built upon and
learners take an active engaged role in their own learning.
As a lifelong learner myself, I am dedicated to remaining at the forefront of evidence-
based structured literacy intervention. In my free time I love to watch sports, go
camping, kayaking and hiking. I am also a mom of 2 adult daughters, a spunky
Pomeranian and a friendly cat who tries hard to make surprise appearances during my
online lessons! :) I look forward to meeting you soon!
