My Story
I have been a special education teacher for 20 years. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in
Elementary and Special Education from Temple University and later received my Master’s degree in Special Education from Temple, along with an additional 45 credits from Pacific Lutheran University. I have been Wilson certified for 18 years.
During my career, I spent my first 11 years teaching students with intellectual disabilities. I then taught 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade ELA and Math in learning support and co-teaching classrooms for five years. For the past four years, I have focused exclusively on teaching Wilson Reading to 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade students.
I am also the parent of three children, one of whom has a reading disability. That experience inspired my passion for reading instruction and strengthened my belief that every child can learn to read with the right support and instruction.
A fun fact about me is that I was a cheerleader at Temple University and had the opportunity to travel to Germany and Egypt during college to coach cheerleading camps.
I truly believe that learning to read is a fundamental right and that every person deserves the opportunity to become a successful reader.
