My Story

I have taught for over 20 years in a variety of educational settings. I have a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in teaching with a Certification in New Jersey as a Teacher of the Handicapped K-12 and a Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant certification from the State of New Jersey.

I have been trained by my school district with Project Read and Linguistics. At that point, I wanted to learn more about dyslexia and focused on the world of Structured Literacy. As I learned more about the benefits of Multisensory Reading Instruction, I became trained in the Wilson Reading Program. I received my Wilson certification Level 1 and I have been using the program with students ever since! I also have Fundations Level 1 and I am currently working on Steps 7-12 to pursue my Level 2 Wilson Certification.

Growing up with a special needs brother and working closely with him to overcome many obstacles of daily living, I discovered my passion for teaching and working with diverse learners. In 1994, I began teaching in New Jersey and working with classified students. Over the years, I have worked in a variety of roles: in-class support teacher, pull-out replacement teacher and self-contained. I have taught reading, writing, math, and science.

After teaching for 15 years, I went back to school for a Learning
Disabilities Teacher Consultant certification so that I can help discover and develop the learning styles of my students, their strengths and skill deficits to help them reach their potential. As a dyslexia practitioner, I have begun working one-on-one with students to help facilitate their learning journey.

There is no greater joy than a child who suddenly lights up because a concept clicks for them. My overall goal in being an educator is to help build confidence in my students and help them find their greatness and develop a love for learning.

Besides teaching I love to learn about new places and travel. I have traveled to 28 countries and hope to see many more. As a mother of three active children, I also love spending time on the sidelines cheering them on in either soccer or track events.
