My Story
I live in New Jersey with my husband, and we’re proud parents of two daughters who graduated from our local public schools and have since completed college. During the summer, we enjoy spending time in Ocean City, NJ, and in the winter, you can often find us skiing in the Poconos.
I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Rowan University in New
Jersey—though it was known as Glassboro State College when I graduated in 1991. Shortly
afterward, I returned to pursue my Special Education Certification. My career began in a
middle school setting, but in 2007, I transitioned to the elementary level, where I have been
working as a special education teacher ever since.
In 2016, I returned to Rowan to further my education, earning a Master’s Degree in Teacher
Leadership along with a Certificate of Graduate Study in Special Education. Today, I continue
to teach math and reading in a small group setting at the elementary level, where I remain
dedicated to supporting student growth and success.
I bring experience in supporting students with IEPs within the general education classroom in both reading and math. I also work with students in small group settings to provide more
targeted instruction based on their individual needs.
I am trained in the Sonday System, a structured, multisensory reading intervention program
based on the Orton-Gillingham approach. This method is especially effective for struggling
readers, including those with dyslexia or other learning disabilities. Using Sonday, I focus on
building skills in phonics, phonemic awareness, decoding, and comprehension—and I’ve seen great success in helping students make meaningful progress.
In addition to instruction, I have experience in writing and implementing IEPs that align
individualized goals with student needs. I take pride in tailoring instruction to support each
learner’s growth and success.
I look forward to working closely with you to support your child’s reading development.
